'X-Men: Apocalypse' news, cast, spoilers: Cosmic elements introduced

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is one of the most looked forward to Marvel movies next year. The successful franchise will be bigger than ever with the new movie and it might be taking on elements that have never been shown before. It may also introduce other possibilities for the franchise. One of the things that X-Men might be delving into after Apocalypse would be the cosmic side. After exploring the past, as well as the future, it won't be much of a surprise if they decide to continue on into cosmic elements.

According to Screen Rant, the movie will be showing En Sabah Nur's, or commonly known as Apocalypse, origins. The film will go on to tell how he was born in ancient Egypt and was abandoned due to his appearance. Being the first mutant, he was able to adapt to the culture that took him in, clearly an example of "survival of the fittest." This would also be his guiding principle as he wakes up in the modern day.

A few things that may not exactly be self-explanatory when he arises in the new world would be Apocalypse's seemingly advanced costume. The technology wouldn't have made sense considering the time he has lived in. It seems that Apocalypse may not only be an all-powerful and immortal mutant but he may also have some alien in him. In the comics, it is explained that Apocalypse will stumble along an alien starship that gives him the technology for his intensified power.

Director Bryan Singer may have incorporated this backstory into the latest film as he shared some production art of Apocalypse seemingly standing near an alien ship entrance ramp. Simon Kinberg also further said some details about Apocalypse's costume design that can give indication about the franchise's future plans. He shared, "I feel like we have been, the X-Men franchise, has been growing a little bit more into science fiction. I think Days of Future Past with time travel and the Sentinels took us into a slightly broader, more science fiction world than the films had occupied in the past. We felt like the movies were ready for something that was slightly more, let's say, cosmic. Once we made the decision for Apocalypse to be the villain at the center of the movie, we wanted to be true to the comics, which are sort of, like you, say, not costume, but it's not just a guy in a helmet. It is more cosmic."

Many fans are excited to see Apocalypse in action as X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
