'X-Men: Apocalypse' News: Film to Be Set in 1983, James McAvoy Talks Plot

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will be set in 1983, which is 20 years after the events of "X-Men: First Class." The film is expected to focus on the younger cast, which includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult.

Recently, McAvoy spoke with Huffpost Live and revealed what was in store for his character. From what he said, it looks like the actor will be looking more like the comic book version of Professor X in the upcoming film.

"I have no idea what's going on. I think I'm losing my hair finally…and yeah, that's kind of all I know," said McAvoy.

The actor did not say much about the film, but did talk about the title.

"It seems fairly global, if we're talking 'Apocalypse'. Maybe it's just the character's name, but I think the nature of the movie is going to be fairly apocalyptic as well," he said.

If a character named Apocalypse will be featured in the film, then it looks like the mutants will be in for the fight of their lives in the upcoming film.

According to the Marvel Comics Database, Apocalypse's given name is En Sabah Nur, which translates as "The First One," and suggests that Apocalypse could be the first mutant in existence. His powers include invulnerability, flight, superhuman strength, teleportation, and telekinesis. It is said that he originated from Egypt, and if he does appear in the movie, then his Four Horsemen -- Pestilence, Famine, War and Death -- could make an appearance as well.

A report from Cinemablend strengthens this theory when the website revealed the first photo posted on Bryan Singer's account. The photo shows Singer and his team of writers including Simon Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.

Singer also reportedly tweeted the picture along with the caption, "Late night #XMen #Apocalypse story session. #SimonKinberg @DanimalHarris @Mike_Dougherty It's snowing in Egypt!"

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will be released on May 27, 2016.
