'X-Men: Dark Phoenix' Movie Release Date news: Directo Confirms Filming Has Wrapped
It has only been months since "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" started production, but new reports confirm that filming for Simon Kinberg's directorial debut has already wrapped. Kinberg himself broke the news on Instagram earlier this week.
The next movie in the "X-Men" franchise kicked off production in the middle of summer. According to reports, the production was able to move at a steady pace, so the cast and crew were able to complete the filming without hitting a snag. Finishing the production this early is also a significant feat for Kinberg, considering that this serves as his first project as a director, and first-time directors usually have poor track records when it comes to big-ticket projects.
Earlier this week, Kinberg posted a set photo of "X-Men: Dark Phoenix," indicating in the caption that they had already wrapped filming for the upcoming film. Although the film is Kinberg's directorial debut, he is not a first timer in the "X-Men" franchise. For years, the renowned filmmaker has been involved with the saga, acting as a producer and writer on "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "X-Men: Apocalypse." For "X-Men: Dark Phoenix," he does not only serve as the director but also as one of its scriptwriters and producers, alongside Hutch Parker and Lauren Schuler Donner.
Rumor has it that since the "X-Men: The Last Stand" failed to get its story right, Kinberg was pressured to give the franchise another shot by retelling its story from a different perspective. The filmmaker has reportedly embraced the cosmic nature of the "Dark Phoenix Saga" comic book storyline, where Jean Grey had a hard time controlling her power and eventually was forced to succumb to the Phoenix Force within.
"X-Men: Dark Phoenix" stars James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven/Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy/Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summer/Cyclops, and more. The film will hit theaters on Nov. 2, 2018.
