'Layers of Fear,' 'Borderlands 2' Could Be Included With Xbox Games With Gold for March 2017

Microsoft recently dropped the titles for its Games with Gold lineup for March. Xbox One and Xbox 360 Gold subscribers can start downloading two of the four games starting March 1.

According to IGN, Bloober Team's psychological horror video game "Layers of Fear" will be available from March 1 to 31 to those with a Gold subscription on Xbox One. The game, which was first released in February last year, follows the story of a painter lost in a Victorian mansion who has the obsessive desire to complete his masterpiece. The website appraised "Layers of Fear," stating that while it hooks the players upon introduction, the lack of surprises in the gameplay as the game progresses was a major letdown.

Also available starting March 1 is Gearbox Software's action role-playing first-person shooter video game, "Borderlands 2." Unlike "Layers of Fear," this will only be available for download on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 until March 15. "Borderlands 2" is the second installment of the role-playing game franchise "Borderlands." The game, which earned mostly positive reviews from critics and players, was first released in 2012. "Borderland 2" got a 9 out of 10 score from IGN. According to Mirror, it is a good RPG to play for hours, with its "solid controls" and attractive art style.

Meanwhile, Turtle Rock Studios' first-person shooter video game, "Evolve Ultimate Edition," and PopCap Games' "Heavy Weapon" will both be available on March 16. Xbox One subscribers have until April 15 to download "Evolve Ultimate Edition."

"Heavy Weapon," on the other hand, is available until March 31 only for both Xbox One and Xbox 360. The shoot 'em up title is described as a throwback to the classic arcade game. Although the gameplay is a bit repetitive, gamers still enjoy this 2D shooter. "Heavy Weapon" is said to be a nice diversion to those who want to take a break from those demanding games.
