Xbox Games With Gold: Microsoft Introduces New List of Free Games for March 2017
Microsoft kicks off the month with a new lineup of free games for Xbox players through Xbox Live's Games with Gold. This March, Xbox One players will get the chance to play "Layers of Fear" and "Evolve Ultimate Edition," while Xbox 360 players can access "Borderlands 2" and "Heavy Weapon" for free.
Every month, Microsoft gives out four games that will be free-to-play for Xbox One and Xbox 360 players. However, those who want to access it must be a registered member of the Xbox Live Gold platform. New members can subscribe for $4.99 per month.
"Layers of Fear" is a hit psychological horror video game from Aspyr Media and developed by Bloober Team. To get through the game, players will have to control a mentally disturbed painter. Gamers will have to help her finish her masterpiece by solving puzzles using clues scattered around the painter's environment. The game will be available for free on Xbox One for the entire month of March.
Another Xbox One title for free this month is "Evolve Ultimate Edition," a cooperative survival game from 2K Games and developed by Turtle Rock Studios. "Evolve" is a multiplayer game involving a group of up to five people where four of them will have to act as Hunters while one has to control the Monster that needs to be taken down.
The Ultimate Edition features all the playable characters released for the main title, which include the Monsters Behemoth and Gorgon plus Hunters Torvald and Lennox on the assault, trappers Crow and Jack, support players Sunny and Kala, and medics Slim and Emet. "Evolve Ultimate Edition" is free from March 16 to April 15.
Xbox 360 players can access "Borderlands 2" for free from March 1-15. This action role-playing game is played in the first-person mode where gamers can choose among four playable characters that each has distinct abilities.
Also free-to-play title on Xbox 360 from March 16 to 31 is "Heavy Weapon" which was originally released in 2005. In this game, players will have to control a tank to get through each stage while overrunning enemies. The idea of the game is to get the upper hand over the Communist forces.
Since "Borderlands 2" and "Heavy Weapon" are already on the Backward Compatibility program, Xbox One players can also play them for free.
Meanwhile, apart from these four titles, "Project Cars: Digital Edition" – from February 2017's list of free games – can still be accessed with no cost until March 15.
