Xbox Games With Gold News: 'Sherlock Holmes,' 'Borderlands' Among Free Games for March
The Spanish Xbox YouTube channel inadvertently announced, ahead of the official announcement, the list of games that are included in Microsoft Xbox Live's Games with Gold program, according to a report in Polygon. A promotional video was posted on the Spanish Xbox YouTube page revealing the list of free games for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360.
According to the video, Xbox One owners can get a hold of "Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments" and "Lords of the Fallen" for free, as long as they have active Xbox Live Gold accounts. For the previous generation console, the Xbox 360, the games up for grabs are "Borderlands" and "Supreme Commander 2." Because of Microsoft's Backwards Compatibility program, both "Borderlands" and "Supreme Commander 2" will be available for play on the Xbox One as well.
In the same report, Microsoft eventually confirmed the line-up of games revealed through the video. It also announced the exact dates when these games will be available for download. Xbox 360 owners can download "Supreme Commander 2" during the first half of March (1-15), while "Borderlands" will be available for the second half of the month (16-31). For the Xbox One, "Sherlock Holmes" will be free for the whole month of March, while the "Lords of the Fallen" will be on offer from March 16 all the way to April 15.

"Sherlock Holmes" is an adventure video game that was inspired by the original stories of Arthur Conan Doyle. It makes use of the Unreal Engine 3 and features six cases of murders, disappearances and thefts. "Lord of the Fallen" is an action role-playing game that features close quarter combat and tactical gameplay in an environment likened to the "Souls" franchise.
"Borderlands" is a role-playing shooter, which allows players to choose the character they will play and as the game progresses, the character's experiences will dictate what kind of skills can be gained throughout the game. "Supreme Commander 2" is a real-time strategy game that features campaigns or battles that players must finish.
