Xbox Live Games With Gold 2014 Deals: $585 Worth of Games Totals A Lot Less Than PlayStation Plus
For the year 2014, Xbox Live Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus offered a myriad of free games throughout the year to their premium subscribers, with Games with Gold coming out with over $500 worth of free games compared to PlayStation Plus's over $1000 deal.
Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus offered not just hours of game playing but also hundreds of dollars saved thanks to their year-long deals.
This year, Xbox Live Games With Gold offered free games to their players who paid the $60 fee to become an Xbox Live Gold member, making them eligible for the 34 free games offered this year.
In total, they offered their members a discount of $584.67 with games such as "Battlefield: Bad Company 2," "Sleeping Dogs," "Lara Croft and the Guardian of the Light," "Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition," "Gotham City Impostors," "Deadlight" and more.
It also garnered an average of 78.3 out of 100 when it came to Metacritic scores, thanks to "Halo: Reach" and its 91 of 100 score, but not so much to "Spartan Assault" with only 53 and "Crimson Dragon" with only 55.
When compared to the PlayStation Plus freebies though, Games with Gold's total came out looking a lot less.
PlayStation Plus offered their premium members a total of $1,349.20 with an average of $112.44 per month, considered quite a deal when compared to the membership fee of $49.99 annually.
Their average Metacritic score also came out at 79 of 100 for the North American territories and 78 of 100 in Europe, thanks to games such as "Injustice: Gods Among Us," "Escape Plan," "Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara," "Road Not Taken" and more.
While the difference of price is quite large, it should be noted that the PlayStation Plus offered services to three consoles with the PS 3, PS4 and PS Vita, while Games With Gold was offered to only two consoles with the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
