Xbox One Backward Compatibility Games List News Updates: 'Hitman: Absolution' Joins Catalog

Since the start of 2017, Microsoft Xbox had been adding more and more games into their Xbox One Backwards Compatibility catalog, and the latest to join the program is Square Enix's stealth game "Hitman: Absolution."

Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb announced the new addition through a tweet on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

"Hitman: Absolution" now joins "LEGO Indiana Jones" and "Grand Theft Auto IV" which were also added to the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program this month.

The game also joins "Stuntman: Ignition," "JUJU" and "Mad Tracks," which were all added to the program just this year.

Xbox fans, however, cannot expect "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" to be added into the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program within the coming weeks. Although the game is a fan favorite, Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirms that the game will not be added to the program anytime soon.

Although Spencer reiterated that he does want "Black Ops II" to be added into the catalog, he did not state a reason as to why this could take much longer. "Please don't take my lack of response on [Black Ops II] as a lack of caring. I really want to see this come to [backwards compatibility]," he says in a tweet, replying to fans.

For gamers who own a digital copy of "Hitman: Absolution" in Xbox 360, it will automatically show up on the Xbox One game library. For those who did not purchase the game yet, "Hitman: Absolution" can be purchased at the Xbox store for $20, with 7GB worth of disk space.

"Hitman: Absolution" also joins famous games "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion," "Mass Effect" trilogy and "BioShock," which were all added to the program in 2016.

Meanwhile, Xbox's Games with Gold lineup added several new games into its program including "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime," available for the whole month of February, while "Project Cars Digital Edition" is at hand until March 15, and "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" is available until the end of this month.
