Xbox One X Release Date, News: Microsoft Opens Pre-Orders for Standard Edition Worldwide

People can start securing an Xbox One X unit as Microsoft has opened the pre-order page for the standard edition of their upcoming gaming console. Meanwhile, the list of games that will be "enhanced" for the console just got longer.

The Xbox One X is the product of Microsoft's Project Scorpio that was announced in 2016. A year after, during last June's Electronic Entertainment Expo week, the company unveiled the new gaming platform and advertised it as the "most powerful console ever."

During the Gamescom trade show last month, Microsoft announced the start of the acceptance of pre-orders for the special edition Xbox One X – the console which bears the exclusive Project Scorpio logo.

However, the availability of the special edition consoles is on an "until supplies last" basis and they have sold out in less than a week. On Aug. 24, Microsoft had already stopped accepting pre-order requests for the product.

Luckily, on Wednesday, Microsoft once again opened the pre-order page, but only for the standard edition of Xbox One X. Reservations can be placed through Microsoft's online store or through authorized retailers.

Other than the special Project Scorpio markings, the special and standard editions of Xbox One X are identical in its technical specifications and other performance-related features.

Meanwhile, as Microsoft started the pre-order period for the console, they have also announced that more games were getting "enhanced" to maximize the power of Xbox One X.

As of Wednesday, Microsoft confirmed there are going to be 130 games upscaled to match the performance of the Xbox One X that promises "True 4K" and supports HDR. Last month, there had only been over 80 games confirmed to be enhanced for the Xbox One X.

The enhanced titles for the Xbox One X include "Forza Motorsport 7," "Assassin's Creed: Origins," "Gears of War 4," "Middle-earth: Shadow of War" and more.

Players can find out if a game is enhanced for the Xbox One X by looking for the logos "Xbox One X Enhanced," "4K Ultra HD," and "HDR" on the packaging or label.

The Xbox One X will be released on Tuesday, Nov. 7, and is priced $499.
