Xbox Project Scorpio Console Comes With Custom GPU, Eight-Core CPU
Microsoft has finally let the world get a glimpse of its highly anticipated console dubbed as the Project Scorpio, which is reportedly packed with a custom graphics processing unit and an eight-core processor.
Eurogamer division Digital Foundry was exclusively invited by Microsoft to come down to Redmond, Washington and see the Xbox Project Scorpio in action. Naturally, the goal was to share to the world what the upcoming console has to offer, and the report has strong words of recommendation about the console.
Digital Foundry commended Microsoft for creating Project Scorpio with a combination of "smart design with sheer horsepower." It has also been confirmed that the console carries the promised six-teraflop power made possible by the mentioned custom GPU which also makes outstanding clock speeds possible. Aside from the custom CPU, the Project Scorpio console runs with GDDR5 12 GB for memory.

The said technical features are reportedly housed in a "compact body" and paired with "state-of-the-art cooling."
It can be recalled that before Digital Foundry's report came out, there had been rumors that another upcoming product – "Forza Motorsport 7" – will be showcased in the said exclusive viewing. The same report mentioned seeing a "Forza Motorsport" demo, though it did not specify if it was the yet-to-be-released installment.
However, if the aim is to fully preview the capacity of Project Scorpio in terms of how smoothly 4K games run on it like never before then they are going to need a game specifically designed to match that power. Digital Foundry has also said that the game demo was running at native 4K and while it was playing with the same Xbox One setting, the title was running at a crisp 60 frames per second.
Meanwhile, the report maintains that while Microsoft is aiming to accommodate native 4K gaming on a wider scale, the company does not intend to turn its back on 1080p gamers.
The exclusive preview also mentioned that the world might only need to wait for another six months before the console gets released since product development is reportedly "running ahead of schedule." However, this one needs to be confirmed by Microsoft since they have been telling gamers that Project Scorpio is more likely to come out by the holiday of 2017.
