'Xenoblade Chronicles 2' News: Devs Detail 'Button Challenge' Gameplay Mechanic

Players can increase the damage they deal using the 'Button Challenge' system

Battles in "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" are expected to be action-packed and fast-moving, which could mean that it may prove challenging for players to concentrate on the things that demand their attention.

It is a challenge prospective players will need to prepare for, however, or else they may consistently fail to take advantage of one of the gameplay mechanics included.

Spotted recently by NintendoEverything, developers shared a short video highlighting the mechanic known as the "Button Challenge."

The "Button Challenge" will pop up on the screen after a character designated as a Blade executes a special move.

In order to properly finish the "Button Challenge," players will have to respond to the prompts that show up on the screen.

It looks like there are instances when players will have to time a button press just right in order to continue with the challenge. They may also have to tap a button repeatedly to finish it.

Players will want to do their best to successfully complete these challenges because doing so increases the power of an attack. On top of that, "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" players may even receive a compliment from the in-game narrator if they can finish the "Button Challenge."

It is still unclear if "Button Challenges" will vary depending on which Blade is used.

For those unaware, Blades are the lifeforms Drivers can create after they interact with a Core Crystal. They then bestow weapons and powers to the Drivers responsible for bringing them to life.

Numerous Blades are expected to be included in the game, and they will feature different abilities. Players will want to find which Blades are the most suitable for the playable characters so that battles will be easier.

More news about Blades, Drivers, "Button Challenges" and the other features included in "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" should be made available in the near future.
