'Xenoblade Chronicles 2' Rumors: The Possible Day and Night Differences Players May Observe in Alrest

Specific elements of earlier 'Xenoblade Chronicles' games only became available during certain parts of the day

Days will turn into nights and nights will give way to days inside "Xenoblade Chronicles 2," and players may find that the world around them is different depending on what time they are exploring Alrest.

Obviously, days and nights will look very different in the game as developers showed recently using two screenshots.

It even looks like certain design elements of specific characters will be displayed more prominently depending on the time of the day.

The day and night differences in the upcoming game are expected to go beyond just visuals, however.

In earlier "Xenoblade Chronicles" games, the time of day had a significant impact on what elements of the world would be made accessible to players.

For example, there were certain monsters that would only be active while the sun was up, and there were also those who preferred walking around and hunting only when it was dark outside. Some of them could also become more aggressive or passive depending on the time of the day.

Those day and night changes affected players too, as it meant they could only complete certain quests at specific times.

If those day and night effects were retained in "Xenoblade Chronicles 2," players would then have to put more thought into how they go about exploring the world of Alrest.

The background music also changed from day to night and vice versa, and players could choose to do some exploring based on which track they preferred listening to.

Those were just a few of the differences between the day and night settings that were included in earlier installments of the "Xenoblade Chronicles" series. If the developers decide to keep those and possibly add even more effects, the upcoming game could then become even more interesting to prospective players.

"Xenoblade Chronicles 2" is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch on Dec. 1.
