Xiaomi Device Codenamed Kenzo Revealed in Benchmark Listing
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is on the roll when it comes to releasing new devices. And while they are expected to release their flagship smartphone anytime soon in 2016, another device is expected to be revealed. According to NDTV Gadgets, a new Xiaomi smartphone codenamed "Kenzo" has been spotted at a benchmark listing.
The new Xiaomi device surfaced courtesy of Geekbench where it revealed its partial specifications. As noted in the listing, under the Motherboard field that says "msm8952," it can be assumed that the upcoming device of Xiaomi will carry a Snapdragon 617 64-bit octa-core processor. It will be clocked at 1.4GHz paired with an Adreno 405 GPU for the graphics, as noted in Android Headlines. It's also noted with processor ID which is "ARM implementer 65 architecture 8 variant 0 part 3336 revision 0."
Aside from that, the same source stated that the Xiaomi Kenzo is listed to run with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system and it will be topped with Xiaomi's MIUI 7 OS. It will also be packed with 2 GB of RAM, indicating it as a mid-ranger device. Geekbench revealed that the new smartphone was able to score 1,420 points in the single-core, and 3,420 points in the multi-core test.
As of the moment, there are still very few details released about the listed device. But several reports point to the possibility of the Kenzo as the successor of the Redmi 2 handset which was announced early this year. The Redmi 2 was equipped with 2 GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor so there is a possibility that Xiaomi is planning to boost its specs. There is no confirmation on whether the listed Xiaomi Kenzo is actually the Redmi 3 but the specs match, as well as the timeframe.
FitnHit also noted that Redmi 3 has been spotted online in the middle of a number of Mi 5 leaks. Those who are looking forward to knowing more about the device will just have to wait and see. It is, after all, expected to be released soon.
