Xiaomi Mi 4 News: Will Xiaomi Mi 4 With Windows 10 Make An Appearance On Thanksgiving?
Fans of the smartphone Xiaomi Mi 4 may soon be able to see the device sporting a mobile operating system other than Android. If reports are true, Thanksgiving will pave the way for the release of a version of the Xiaomi Mi 4 that runs on the latest mobile OS of Windows, Windows 10 Mobile. According to a Tech Times report, the phone, which is touted to be an iPhone lookalike, will be made available with Windows 10 mobile soon.
The report noted that this rumor is bolstered by a previous revelation from Xiaomi and Microsoft that they are experimenting on using Windows 10 mobile for the Xiaomi Mi 4 since March this year.
According to the report's source which is a GSM Dome report, a photo of the device sporting a Windows 10 mobile has appeared on Chinese website Weibo. The Weibo account owner is supposedly a Microsoft China employee who is the director of Engineering of the OS Software Engineer Institute, and he also claimed that the beta is close and will be making an appearance in Thanksgiving or November 28, to be exact. This particular employee is said to be responsible for the development of the OS for Xiaomi.
Being the current flagship phone of the company, the Xiaomi Mi 4 is among the best-selling smartphones today. The current flagship has some decent specs, with a 5 inch display that has a 1,080 by 1,920 pixels resolution and a quad-core 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor. This is paired with 3 GB of RAM. Its main camera is a 13-megapixel shooter with autofocus and LED flash. Its secondary camera, also known as a selfie camera, is an 8-megapixel shooter. Internal storage can be 16 GB or 64 GB. The phone however does have a microSD slot.
Xiaomi has yet to confirm if this report is true, but the Tech Times report point to two possibilities – the first being one where Xiaomi will "re-release" the Mi 4 with Windows 10 and name it as something else, and the second one is where Xiaomi will merely make the Windows 10 build downloadable to anyone who owns a Mi 4.
