Xiaomi Mi 4c news, specs, release date: What the Xiaomi Mi 4c will bring

It seems that there is no better advertiser of the latest Xiaomi Mi 4c than Xiaomi's president and co-founder himself, Lin Bin. Lin Bin is busy using the latest handset's features and showing it off via China's famous social network Weibo. He is continuously dropping spec after spec, obviously with the goal of exciting fans.

According to Tech Grapple, the posts that Bin recently made have given fans ideas on what could be expected from the upcoming Mi 4c. First among the news is that Mi 4c's global version will be able to support 4G with two SIM cards. Moreover, Lin Bin has already clarified that the expected dual limitation (1 SIM capable of 4G, while the other only 2G) in China will also already be removed and that 4G can be used in both SIM cards. Also, there will be a new packaging that the Mi 4c will be sporting. Instead of the usual plain brown box, the company finally opted to go for a more colorful and bright orange box with white text and parts, which is a big improvement from its predecessor.

As for the specs, awaiting fans of the phone have rejoiced after the much-rumored Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 SoC was confirmed to be featured on the phone. This news came from no other than Xiaomi's founder and chairman, Lei Jun. Snapdragon 808 is said to improve connectivity, as well as offer a 20 percent faster downloading speed. One of the latest and cool features of the phone is said to be the Double Tap capability. This would allow users to "wake" the screen by double tapping it when it goes off, and vice versa (tapping the screen when it's on, to go to standby mode).

Aside from that, all other news are just assumptions for now. Some other expected specs include a variety of 2 GB RAM with 16 GB ROM, and 3 GB RAM with 32 GB and 64 GB ROM, but still with no microSD slot. As for measurements, it is rumored to have a 5-inch FHD display, 13-megapixel primary camera, and 5-megapixel secondary camera. The battery will also most likely be around 3,080 mAh and will be running on Android Lollipop based, MIUI 7.
