Xiaomi Mi 5 Hits Benchmarking Site With Snapdragon 820 And 3 GB RAM

Xiaomi's next flagship device, the Xiaomi Mi 5, is said to be the first Android phone that will be powered by Qualcomm's latest processor, the Snapdragon 820. Recently, the device was listed in a benchmarking site showing that it will have a 5.7-inch display and will have the Snapdragon 820 on board.

According to a report in Tech Times, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is one of the year's most anticipated devices with rumors about its specs and release date making the rounds online since last year.

The GFXBench site listed the phone as having a large 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1,080 pixels. This spec has since been confirmed by Xiaomi, the Tech Times report cited.

Under the hood, the phone is listed to have a quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor running at 2.1 GHz paired with 3 GB of RAM. An Adreno 530 GPU also powers the device's graphics processing.

According to the Tech Times report, on-board storage is listed to be at 64 GB, but there is no indication if this is expandable via a microSD card and up to what capacity. Battery capacity is not mentioned in the listing, but earlier rumors place it at 3,600 mAh.

Earlier rumors about the device hinted at smaller screen sizes such as 5.2 or 5.3 inches, with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. An earlier benchmark listing cited that the device got a very impressive score on 73,705.

In terms of the phone's design, several images have leaked indicating that the phone will have a metal frame. There is also a report that Xiaomi will make two variants of the device – one made of all-metal and one with a glass panel on both front and back.

Given that it's a flagship device, it will more likely come pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In terms of price points, one rumor says that the 16 GB variant will sell for $625 while the bigger 64 GB variant will be selling for $728.
