Xiaomi Mi 6 Release Date, News: Leak Confirms Flagship Will Get Snapdragon 835 Processor and More

A new leak has uncovered the specifications and features of the Xiaomi Mi 6 ahead of its nearing launch. If these details are anything to go by, the company's latest offering will be one to watch.

A GFX Bench listing reveals that the Xiaomi Mi 6, which is codenamed Sagit, will indeed be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor instead of the last-generation Snapdragon 821 processor, as previous reports suggested.

Fans will not have to worry about Xiaomi's flagship being left behind in this department. In fact, it will actually be among the first devices to be equipped with it, with the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Samsung Galaxy S8 the only ones to overshoot it.

As per the listing, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be made more formidable with 4 GB random-access memory (RAM) and 6 GB RAM configurations paired with 64 GB and 128 GB native storage, respectively.

One of the notable revelations in the listing involve the imaging department, which includes a 12 MP rear-facing camera and an 8 MP selfie snapper that will both support 4K video recording.

The listing seems to hint that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will not come with a dual camera setup, which is what previous leaks have been suggesting. To be fair, the feature has been rumored to be exclusive to the Plus version of the flagship.

The one on the leak may be the standard version of the Xiaomi flagship. After all, it was shown to have a 5.1-inch full high-definition (HD) display. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus is expected to boast Quad HD 2K organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display. Another purported feature Xiaomi is saving for the bigger version is the 8 GB configuration.

Back to the Xiaomi Mi 6 on the benchmark listing, it was also shown to run the Android 7.1.1 Nougat superimposed on an unreleased version of the Xiaomi's very own MIUI.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be released this week or the next. The pricing is rumored to start at CNY 1,999 or $289.
