Xiaomi Mi 6 Release Date, Specs: Flagship to Arrive This Month, Set to Rival Samsung Galaxy S8

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is indeed coming this month. This is according to the CEO of the Chinese tech company, Lei Jun, who revealed the information in a recent live stream.

As per Gizbot, Jun made the comment about the Xiaomi flagships' release during that event. Previous reports suggested a much more specific date, which is April 11.

With that said, it is looking more and more likely that users will not wait that long to see the Xiaomi Mi 6 and its Plus version in the flesh.

Apart from the potential launch date, more information on what the device has to offer has found their way online. Based on these latest details, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is one to watch.

In two new leaked images, it is suggested that the handset will feature a higher body-to-screen ratio than that of Samsung's newly unveiled flagships, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

This means that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will have little to no bezels. The part with the most bezels will be the top, where the front-facing camera and the speaker grille are situated.

Another feature that will set the Xiaomi Mi 6 apart from the rest is the dual camera setup, which will feature two lenses arranged vertically instead of historically as other flagships do.

According to Wccftech, this placement will allow users to capture images with a shallow depth of field while still keeping the focused object sharp.

With all that said, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is shaping up to be another flagship to look forward to, and one that will give other flagships some serious competition.

Other specifications and features that the device will reportedly have include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with 4 GB and 6 GB RAM and 64 GB to 128 GB storage space.

The standard version will reportedly have a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a massive 4,000 mAh battery pack to keep the lights on.
