Xiaomi Mi5 Release Date, Specs: Tipped to Feature Force Touch Display
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is expected to release its latest smartphone soon, which is the highly rumored Mi5. According to Phone Arena, the tech company has been very good in keeping the upcoming smartphone's details quiet because until now, there hasn't been much credible information about it. Fortunately though, some rumors have been filling in the holes.
The latest one in the rumor mill is from a new leak by popular Chinese tipster @Leaksfly who suggested that Xiaomi has been working on the patent for a pressure sensitive display technology which is almost the same as Apple's 3D Touch. But Digit noted that it's not certain if the technology they are planning to incorporate into their line of devices soon will start off with the upcoming Mi5 flagship. Although, there is a significant chance that the technology will first arrive with the Mi5, as the source went on to say that Xiaomi could be working together with Synaptics to include its ClearForce technology.
Furthermore, the Mi5 is also expected to come with Snapdragon 820 SoC. And since Qualcomm's latest chip isn't going to be out yet anytime soon this year, it's most likely that the smartphone will not also come around next month or before the year ends. Realty Today also detailed that Xiaomi will not settle for the Snapdragon 810 since it has already been known to have an overheating issue.
Other specs and features reported in the source include that of the internal storage variants which are 16 GB and 32 GB. There are no reports yet if the memory storage capacity will be expandable via a MicroSD card but it is expected that it will run with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. The handset is also said to boast a 16-megapixel back camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Aside from that, a fingerprint scanner will be present as well as a USB Type-C connector.
