Xiaomi Mi5 to Launch in Upcoming October Event?

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is gearing up for another mobile launch and fans are expecting the Mi5, which is the successor to last year's flagship smartphone, the Mi4. According to GSM Arena, the tech company has delivered invites for an event next week.

They released a teaser image in the Chinese social network Weibo showing the invite that indicated there will be a big announcement and it will happen in an event that will take place on Oct. 19. There were no details included though as to what will be launched but all fingers point to the anticipated Mi5.

Tech Gadget Central reported that the Xiaomi Mi5 is the "next big thing from the company." It became a highly awaited smartphone after the success of Mi4 that was launched almost two years ago. As the site wrote, a lot were impressed with the previous releases and the price tag that came along with it. This has led many to think that the Mi5 is expected to be no different from the predecessor's awesome specs and $320 launching price.

The Mi5 has been long rumored to be released around December 2015 or January 2016. Some say that it might happen this coming November with a launch date as early as October. But until now, the company has not confirmed any of the release date speculations.

If it does make an early appearance, the handset will most likely not come with the Snapdragon 820 SoC as the first devices with the chipset are expected to still come in December at the earliest. Previous leaks suggest that the specs and features of will be impressive. It is expected to come with a 5.2-inch Quad-HD resolution IPS LCD display and will run with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Storage capacity is reported to be 32GB and will have 3 or 4GB RAM.

International Business Times noted that the smartphone may come in two variants: a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and a MediaTek Helio X20. It will carry at least 3000 mAh battery and will give at least two days of battery life on regular use.

Whether it will or will not launch next week, fans will have to wait and see.
