Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus Specs, Release Date: New Leak Reveals Tall Display, Dual Camera Setup

It looks like the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is going bezel-less, joining the latest trend in the mobile scene.

A brand-new leaked image that found its way on Weibo shows off a render of the device boasting what looks like a FullView display that boasts a tall aspect ratio of 18:9.

There is no information yet on what the size of the screen of the handset will be but it should be bigger than the standard Xiaomi Redmi 5, which sports a 5-inch display.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus has very thin top and bottom bezels with the former just big enough to house the speaker, microphone and front camera while the sides are almost nonexistent. There is no home button in sight while the volume rocker and power buttons are found on the right hand side.

This design will allow the handset to fare with other devices in terms of appearance, which proves a big draw especially in the category the device is in.

While the bezel-less trend first started in flagships like the LG G6, the Samsung Galaxy S8 duo and the Apple iPhone X, the fad is also starting to seep into the midrange territory. Not many boast the design in this section of the mobile community so this should give Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus an edge from the rest.

The back of the handset looks much like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 4. The device comes with a dual camera setup arranged vertically. Below the lenses lies the dual LED flash and underneath is a fingerprint scanner.

With regard to specs, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus will reportedly be powered by either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor or the newer 630 chipset.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus will also come with 3 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 32 GB of storage expandable with a microSD card.
