Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Specs, Release Date: Flagship Shows Off Ultra-Thin Bezels and More in New Leak

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 finds itself in the middle of a brand-new leak, this time in the form of live images that provide a better look at its design.

As seen in the photos shared on Weibo, the next-generation smartphone will look and perform differently from its sibling, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, which was released last month.

The leak highlights its superior looks with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 sporting a tall 5.5-inch display that boasts 18:9 aspect ratio, making for a premium design.

To pull this off, the bezels had to be made extra thin, which is exactly what Xiaomi did on the purported Redmi Note 5 especially on the forehead and chin as shown in the images.

A dual camera setup can be seen on the metal back of the handset. The two sensors are arranged vertically with the LED flash sitting below the second lens. Just underneath that is a fingerprint scanner.

Rumor has it that the snappers on the rear of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 are at 16 megapixels and 5 MP, respectively, which is a bit of an upgrade from the Note 5A that came with a 13 MP and 5 MP combo. A selfie camera is also in tow, but there is no word on what the resolution will be.

With regard to the hardware, the next-generation Xiaomi Redmi Note offering will reportedly house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor under the hood.

GSM Arena believes that the handset's power source could also end up being the MediaTek Helio P25. Whatever it will be, either chipset is expected to offer a decent performance required of a Xiaomi Redmi Note device.

This will be bolstered by 3 to 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM). Storage-wise, the handset will reportedly be offered in 16, 32 and 64 GB variants.

Finally, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will reportedly pack a 4,000 mAh battery, which is slightly bigger than the Note 5A's 3,080 mAh.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will reportedly come with a starting price of CNY 999 or around $150, and can go up to CNY 1,699, which is around $256.
