Xiaomi Mi Note Release Date, Specs Info: Features Unveiled By Chinese Manufacturer

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed the company's new phablet, which is the Mi Note.

The device with a 5.7-inch high definition screen measures 6.95 millimeters and weighs 161 grams. Xiaomi used Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 for the Mi Note's cover complete with a 2.5D curve at front part and 3D curve at the back.

As for the main camera, it has 13 megapixels attached with a Sony CMOS sensor, optical image stabilization, Philips two-tone flash, and six-element lens. It produced good looking images on the Mi Note's screen.

The front facing camera has 4 megapixels with 2-micron pixels. It is located above the phablet's screen together with the earpiece and sensors.

The Mi Note has backlit buttons and the power and volume buttons are on the right border of the model. The speaker is located on the bottom end together with the USB port. On the top part is the 3.5 mm jack.

The hardware the phablet is Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor with a 4 GB RAM. It has internal memory of 16 GB to 64 GB.

Aside from that, Xiaomi claims to have the "highest quality of audio chip" available for phones on the Mi Note named as the ESS ES9018K2M. Tech reviewers were unable to test the hip since no music was pre-loaded on the phablet upon purchase. Mi Note also has a 3,000maAh LTE battery.

Since Xiaomi revealed their new phablet, it has received several comparisons to its rivals such as the Asus ZenUI. The Mi Note's screen can be adjusted depending on the user's preference. This is a feature that was already integrated on the said Asus device.

Apart from Asus, Xiaomi's Mi Note was also compared to Apple's iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung's Galaxy Note due to its size and appearance. Samsung has started the trend of bigger smartphones and used Note to name their devices.

Apple's hardware and software design chief Jony Ive expressed his disapproval for Xiaomi's similarities to the Apple gadgets in terms of design. Ive said that the uncanny resemblance of the devices does not mean flattery for him. The design chief branded it as "lazy" and "theft."

In response, Xiaomi's vice president Hugo Barra said that the imitation claims were "overblown."

Xiaomi Mi Note will be released in China on Jan.27 with the starting price of $370.
