'Yakuza 0' Confirmed to Arrive in North America and Europe in Early 2017

The prequel to the "Yakuza" series of video games will be going out the borders of its hometown Japan soon. Just as what PlayStation Lifestyle reported, Japanese multinational video game developer and publisher Sega has announced the release window of "Yakuza 0" in the Western region. The details are not specific yet but the company confirmed that the game will be arriving to the PS4 sometime in early 2017 in North America and in Europe.

As of now, the prequel is available only in Japan. IGN reported that the game was released last year on PS3 and PS4. But unlike in Japan, the game will only be arriving in PS4 in North America and Europe next year. There will also be a physical edition aside from the digital version that will be made available. Sega is aiming to simultaneously release the game in both regions.

For those who have no clue yet on what "Yakuza 0" is all about, PlayStation Blog wrote that the game follows the story of protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. The setting is in "chilly but electric" Tokyo in the year 1988. Kiryu climbs in the ranks of the Yakuza, which is pointed out to be the name for the blatant criminal gangs running in the crummy underworld of Japan. After a series of events, Kiryu's fate brings him in a life that tries to bring back his honor and save the reputation of his savior and father figure, Shintaro Kazama.
