'Young Sheldon' Season 1 Spoilers: George Cooper Sr. Lands in Hospital

"Young Sheldon" will officially begin its run following a pilot preview last September. The show will return with its second episode on Thursday, Nov. 2, on CBS.

"Young Sheldon" season 1 episode 2 will feature a health scare for dad George Cooper Sr. (Lance Barber). The incident will cause Sheldon (Iain Armitage) to question God but his grandmother or Meemaw (Annie Potts) will enlighten the 9-year-old boy.

The episode, however, raises a question on the longevity of George's character. Will "Young Sheldon" dive early into how the health of Sheldon's dad deteriorates? Or is it too early to get into this storyline?

Viewers of the mother show, "The Big Bang Theory," know that Sheldon lost his dad in the early '90s or roughly 13 years before the original series started its run in 2007. Sheldon, as Jim Parsons, said in various instances in the series that his dad was a drunk, which might suggest how he died.

"Young Sheldon," however, begins in 1989. If Sheldon's dad died in 1994, then the spinoff series will have five years before any storyline should lead to his death if CBS will keep the show for that long.

For now, the status of "Young Sheldon" is quite favorable following its strong debut with 17.2 million viewers tuning in. It's the first new show this Fall TV season to earn a full series order, which means it will be airing 22 new episodes until May 2018. The show's official run this November will determine if it's worthy of a second season renewal.

Critics mostly gave the pilot episode positive reviews. Aside from the performances of Armitage and Barber, viewers also love the chemistry of the ensemble that includes Zoe Perry as Sheldon's religious mom Mary, Raegan Revord as Sheldon's tattle-tale twin sister Missy and Montana Jordan as Sheldon's older brother George Jr.

"Young Sheldon" will air every Thursday nights at 8:30 EST on CBS following "The Big Bang Theory" at 8:00 p.m. EST.
