YouTube Receives First Facelift, Most Users Unhappy with Google's Changes

Google performed its first major transformation of the popular video website YouTube with the recent updates made to the website's design since acquiring it in 2006.

The re-design of YouTube seems to be an attempt by Google to make it more television-like.

The new layout makes finding channels on the front page much easier. It also provides the user with a black navigation menu on the left hand side that allows users to organize channels in a custom way.

It also makes the process simpler for finding content, because the old way of doing things had users performing a Google search every time they wanted to find a video.

“More and more, behind every great video is a great channel,” said YouTube in a recent blog post.

Google’s main focus is to emphasize the channels on YouTube and make the experience on the website similar to watching cable or satellite TV. It will also ensure that users are logged into a Google account while using the new YouTube.

Google announced the news plans earlier in the week: “With our announcement last month that more Channels are coming to YouTube, we want to make it easier for you to find and keep tabs of what you want to watch,” said the company in an announcement made on the Google blog.

Google’s believes that it has created a simpler YouTube experience, according to its blog. However, some users of the website disagree.

“Like everyone else, I hate the new layout. It’s confusing and unnecessary to boot. I find that every time the powers that be have brought in a design change over the years things get worse, not better,” wrote user Keiko in a comment on the Daily Mail website.

Most users seem to be showing their dislike of the new layout. The situation is reminiscent of the recent changes Facebook made to its website that received much user lash back.
