Zayn Malik Opens Up About Friendship With Louis Tomlinson

Although Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson have already made amends, the "Dusk Till Dawn" crooner admitted that their friendship is no longer what it used to be.

Malik recently caught up with Us Weekly and he shared that a lot of things have changed between him and Tomlinson. "Yeah we spoke about that, we're in touch, everything is on a civil level," said the 24-year-old. "It's not the way it used to be."

He further revealed that they are still on speaking terms and their relationship as former bandmates is in a "civil level." "Obviously we were a lot closer because we were together the entire time; spending 24 hours a day in the band and now we're not so we're living our own lives," Malik continued.

Malik's recent statement comes two months after Tomlinson said an interview that his dying mother's wish was for them to reconcile. Tomlinson's mother Johannah Deakin passed away in December 2016, but he still honored her wish by reaching out to his friend. At the time, he confirmed that they have already "cleared the air."

Deakin's death led her son to come together with his other One Direction bandmates Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Harry Styles for the first time since their split. While people had mixed reactions on the decision to put the group on an indefinite hiatus, Tomlinson believes it only made their relationship with each other stronger than ever.

Tomlinson and Malik are now pursuing solo projects. Earlier this month, Malik dropped his latest single "Dusk Till Dawn" featuring Sia, which currently sits at the No. 12 spot on the iTunes Top 100 Song chart. He also made headlines in July when he did a Vogue cover shoot with girlfriend/supermodel Gigi Hadid. Meanwhile, Tomlinson is reportedly working on his new album after his collaboration with Bebe Rexha.
