'Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner' Remaster to Arrive on PS4 and PC
A remaster of Konami's hack and slash and third-person shooter video game "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner" is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam.
The game developer announced the news during Sony Interactive Entertainment's pre-Tokyo Game Show 2017 press conference. According to Polygon, the remaster is titled "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – Mars." It will reportedly be the "enhanced version" of "Zone of the Enders 2 HD," with graphics supporting 4K resolution.
"Mars" will also be playable in virtual reality. On top of that, Konami has revealed that it will come with a new sound design, which includes "next-gen surround sound." Other brand new features remain a mystery, but the game publisher promised that players will not be disappointed. The shooter will also be available for Windows PC on Steam.
"All visual and aural elements have been remastered for native 4K resolution, and the action has been similarly improved with the game experience being ported to VR," Konami's press release read. "As such, the new game retains the unique and beautiful visuals of the original title, but boasts textures in updated 4K while using surround sound techniques to offer layered and immersive audio effects."
Produced by Hideo Kojima, "Zone of the Enders" was first launched in 2001 for the PS2. This inspired a spin-off for the Game Boy Advance in 2001. The main game's sequel, "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner," was then launched in 2003. In 2012, the original game and its sequel was released as part of a compilation titled "Zone of the Enders HD Collection" for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Meanwhile, "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – Mars" will reportedly be out in spring 2018. Japanese video game development studio, Cygames, will be its developer.
On a different note, it has been announced during TGS 2017 that "Final Fantasy IX" is now available for the PS4 in Japan. It was also confirmed that "Earth Defense Force 5," the upcoming installment of the "Earth Defense Force," will be released on Dec. 7 for PS4's Japanese gamers.
