Colorado Church Sunday Service Notes: Why Does God Allow Tragedy, Suffering?
The congregation at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch, Colo., was scheduled to hear a message on marriage given by their evangelism and apologetics ministry co-director Lee Strobel this last Sunday – that was before the tragic event in Aurora in which 12 people were killed and nearly 60 others were injured during a shooting spree inside a movie theater during a midnight showing early Friday.

Colorado Shooting: Cross Carrying Evangelist One of First Responders to Carnage
An evangelist perhaps best known for carrying his 12-foot cross around the globe during the last 44 years – often to places of tragedy – didn't have to travel thousands of miles to share his love for Jesus late last week. Denver area resident Arthur Blessitt was one of the first responders to the aftermath of the carnage perpetrated by a gunman at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater.

Lee Strobel Probes 'Why?' During First Sunday Service After Colorado Shooting
For some pastors, especially those close to scene of the tragic shooting inside a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., during the early hours of last Friday, their sermon notes for this past Sunday's services had to be rewritten. Author and evangelist Lee Strobel was scheduled to speak at Cherry Hills Community Church about marriage, but changed the theme of his message to answer the question, "Why does God allow tragedy and suffering?"

Aurora Shooting: Pastors, Churches Open Hearts to Grieving Colorado
Churches in the city of Aurora and much of Colorado held special prayer services and vigils Friday night in response to a mass shooting in which 12 people were killed and 58 were wounded inside a theater during a midnight showing of the new Batman movie. Pastors and ministry leaders are making not only their churches available, but their spiritual counsel as well.

Colorado Shooting: 13 Years After Columbine, Is the Church to Blame?
Colorado native David Jesse woke up Friday morning to the news of the mass shooting in an Aurora movie theater in which 12 people were killed and 58 injured and instantly felt the same way he did more than a decade ago after the Columbine tragedy. While first recalling how Christian leaders at the time pointed to the evils of society in blaming the shootings at Columbine, he says that the Church is to blame for what happened in Aurora.

US Defense Memo: Military Members Can Wear Uniforms in Gay Pride Parade
The U.S. Department of Defense gave permission Thursday for all service members participating in San Diego's Gay Pride Parade this Saturday to march in uniform for the first time in history. Christian chaplains in the military previously said that the DoD's recent recognition of Gay Pride Month less than a year after the repeal of "Don't ask, don't tell" (DADT) is the new "stark reality" that behavior once considered by the military as grounds for court martial is now celebrated.

Calif. College Drops Action Against Student Promoting Christian Event; Policy Unchanged
A California community college student will not have to face a disciplinary hearing after all for distributing religious fliers in the same location used by other students to promote non-religious activities on campus. However, the college district said it is not planning to revise the policy that led to the problem for another six months.
