Does Your Sex Life Hinder Holy Desires?
A lot of professing Christians today engage in premarital sex. Many of them feel their behavior is not that big of a deal to God. Is there a way to know for sure?
Don't Get Left Pleading at the Door
You and I are not smarter than God. Far from it. So when Jesus, who is God, says that one day people will "stand outside knocking and pleading" to get into heaven, He expects to be taken seriously. (see Luke 13:22-30) Jesus goes on in that passage to describe hell when He states, "There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth." (Luke 13:28) Please consider who it was that made this alarming statement, and then try to imagine what that scene will look like.
Skeptics of Christianity Should Study Their Children
No one is required to be a skeptic of Christianity. It is a choice. Just like parenting is a choice. And one thing I find interesting is that Christian parents and non-Christian parents have many similar desires for their young children.
Why a Believer Shouldn't Marry an Unbeliever
If you are a believer and you are already married to someone who is an unbeliever, God's Word tells you to stay married to your spouse (see 1 Cor. 7:12,13). If on the other hand, you are a single Christian who is considering getting married to an unbeliever, don't do it. God's Word says, "Do not be unequally yoked." (2 Cor. 6:14)
Your Blood Glucose and Your Spiritual Health
Many of us have faced challenges over the years with our weight. After years of failed attempts at weight loss, I was given a bit of a wake-up call last November during a routine physical. They checked my A1C which reveals your average blood glucose level over the previous 3 months. It should be at 6 or lower, and mine was at 10.2. This placed me in the diabetic range.
Christian Illusionists Have a Spirit Within Them
In a recent column about the magician Dynamo and his levitation in London, I wrote that "some magicians engage in illusion." Certainly Christian illusionists would fit into this category, or "Christian magicians" as some of these illusionists refer to themselves. They are attempting to do what other Christians attempt to do through puppets, or art, or drama, or rap music. They are attempting to entertain people through illusions and tricks as they also present the Gospel message of salvation.
Can Someone Fear God and Love Him?
It would be natural to ask the question, "Should I be afraid of God?" Well that all depends on what you mean by "fear," and who you mean by "God." If you are talking about the God of the Bible, then you are asking about the one true God. In that case, "Yes." There is a proper way to understand "the fear of the Lord." In fact, it is an essential quality of anyone who truly knows God.
The Lawyer's Red Corvette License Plate 'IDEFNDU'
Across the highway from our church is the county jail where I lead a weekly Bible study. As I was leaving yesterday, I noticed a red Corvette convertible parked near the courthouse with the license plate, "IDEFNDU." The attorney who drives it is probably very skilled in that line of work.
Why Christianity Often Appears to Be Losing
You cannot judge a book by its cover. And you cannot attain an accurate reading on Christianity by appearances alone.
Andy Murray's Kingdom Rose Out of Darkness
The United Kingdom is abuzz now that Andy Murray has become the first British man to win Wimbledon in 77 years. He defeated Novak Djokovic ("The Joker") on Sunday, after having lost in last year's final against Roger Federer. Andy is now on top of the tennis world, and on top of the U.K. even to the point of being mentioned for knighthood by the Prime minister.
