10 states with abortion referendums in 2024
New York
While not exclusively pertaining to abortion, a measure slated to go before New York voters this fall will add “ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, creed [or], religion, or sex, including sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes, and reproductive healthcare and autonomy” to the list of characteristics protected under state law if passed.
The proposed constitutional amendment would have the effect of creating a right to abortion.
Currently, New York is one of 13 states that protects the right to abortion prior to viability.
