2011 Nissan Recall Affects 62,000 Drivers
Nissan has announced Monday, the recall of select 2010 and 2011 Sentra models citing that a problem with the battery could cause the cars to stall. The news comes after a previous recall last week.
The recall states that a zinc coating on some cable bolts may be too thick resulting in dropped voltage. The drop in voltage can happen while the car is in motion posing a possible accident threat.
The recall has only had effect on vehicles equipped with MR20 engines and includes Sentras built between May 11 and May 22, 2010 or between July 8 and October 25, 2010. Almost 34,000 Sentras have been subject to recall.
This comes after Nissan’s December 15th recall of the Juke. An additional 28,000 Nissans were recalled for a faulty turbocharger sensor bracket. This recall had effect on 2011 models of Juke SUVs with turbocharger-equipped engines made from April 2010 to May 2011.
Nissan will notify owners of the recall on both cars sometime in January 2012. Owners will then be allowed to take their vehicles to a Nissan dealer, who will inspect the vehicle and replace any faulty parts pertaining to the recall.
Nissan spokesman Brian Brockman reported to the AP Press that no crashes or injuries have happened because of either problem.
