Israeli diplomat Yaki Lopez

Yaki Lopez, a diplomat at Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote in a Tuesday X post that the United Nations "has completely gone off the deep end" after it lowered its flag to half-staff to honor Raisi.

"Raisi is personally responsible for the deaths of thousands of Iranians, as well as for attacks on Israel," Lopez wrote. "What a disgrace."

As The Associated Press reported Wednesday, the turnout for Raisi's funeral service was "noticeably lower" than the 2020 procession honoring Revolutionary Guard General Qassem Soleimani. Raisi won the Iranian presidency in a "record low turnout" and oversaw crackdowns against dissidents, the outlet reported, noting that prosecutors have warned people against displaying signs celebrating Raisi's death.
