'Blasphemous': 4 reactions to UN, US honoring fallen Iranian president
Gilad Erdan
Israeli U.N. Ambassador Gilad Erdan highlighted in a Tuesday X post the moment he expressed "shock" and "disgust" at the United Nations' moment of silence for Raisi.
The Israeli ambassador asserted that the U.N. commemorated the man responsible for the suffering of the individuals abducted by Hamas even though the U.N. has failed to secure their release.
"You held a moment of silence to commemorate the mass-murdering President of Iran," Erdan said. "What's next? Will the Council hold a moment of silence for Bin Laden? Will there be a vigil for Hitler?"
On Tuesday, Erdan also referred to the U.N. lowering its flag in honor of the deceased Iranian president as "unbelievable" and "shameful."
"This is beyond disgraceful. It is an offense to true supporters of human rights worldwide," the Israeli U.N. ambassador wrote. "The next time the UN issues a statement on human rights, remember that it is the same organization that gave the red carpet treatment to these mass-murderers in life and death."
