5 Christian Reactions to Church of England's Controversial Transgender Affirming Vote
5. Rod Dreher
Rod Dreher, an American conservative writer whose recently released book The Benedict Option: A Strategy for Christians in a Post-Christian Nation explores how Christians should live separate from mainstream society, argued that the CofE has abandoned Christian principles.
"The Church of England is about to consecrate sex change operations — and a prelate considered to be a conservative, Archbishop John Sentamu of York, supports the measure," Dreher wrote on Monday in The American Conservative.
"Sign of the times. This is not a Church that has any interest in providing an authentic Christian witness to the post-Christian culture. It is only negotiating the terms of its own swift demise," he added.
Dreher further asserted that the CofE is dying, and that its ecclesial body is "so desperate to cling to power that's slipping through its hands" that it is "making a deal with the world," but argued that such an ecclesial body will not survive.
