911 Call for Cigarettes: Woman Arrested for Prank Call (VIDEO, AUDIO)

A 911 call for cigarettes has seen a 48 year old woman arrested for abuse of emergency services.

The incident took place in Texas, when a woman, Linda White, called 911 to ask for cigarettes to be delivered to her home. It is unclear whether the woman was serious in her request or was attempting to simply make a prank call. However, Hood County sheriff's Lt. Kathy Jividen described the woman as being "very intoxicated" when she made the emergency phone call.

The request did not go down well with police officers on Feb. 11, and the sheriff's office dispatched a pair of deputies to the woman's residence to teach her a lesson.

The two police deputies visited the 48 year old woman at her house, where they placed her under arrest.

She was charged with a misdemeanor count of abuse of 911.

The woman, who lives in Granbury, about 65 miles southwest of Dallas, was later released from the Hood County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

According to Hood County sheriff's Lt. Kathy Jividen, the woman had thought that it would be amusing to call the police to request a delivery of cigarettes. However, she may now think twice before making such a prank call again.

Here is a video report on the woman's prank call to 911 to place an order for cigarettes. An audio of the call is also included in the report:
