'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Spoilers: Thor and Captain America Crossovers Coming Soon
Tonight's episode of ABC's hit "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will feature the character Thor in a crossover episode. And it seems that will not be the only crossover episode of "S.H.I.E.L.D." this season, as executive producer Jed Whedon explains. To see what Whedon has to say about the upcoming episodes, read on, but be cautious of spoilers.
In a recent interview with TV Guide, Whedon explained that tonight's episode will provide some background information to the audience while being a crossover episode with Thor.
"One of the things that S.H.I.E.L.D. does that we never deal with is clean up. After the fallout of the film, we're in charge of the clean-up. We spilled into more of the ancient aspects into Asgardians and how they visited us long ago, so we get into a little bit of that aspect of Asgard and how it's affected our planet in the past and currently," the executive producer said.
Whedon went on to explain why the show is interested in crossover episodes.
"We're trying to flesh out the world. The Marvel brand carries with it a lot of familiar faces. We're trying to flesh out the world of S.H.I.E.L.D. with the established characters and the characters we're introducing to build out the larger organization that we operate in. That's where some of the fun can be had," he said to TV Guide.
As to what other character viewers may see in crossover episodes, it seems that there may be some crossover with the upcoming movie "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
"We will definitely try to tee-up some stuff and probably play a little bit of the fallout from that film. We're hoping to do some cool stuff," the executive producer said.
