Alex Rodriguez Trade Rumors: A-Rod Planning Yankees Future Despite Marlins MLB Rumors
Alex Rodriquez could be the subject of a trade between the New York Yankees and the Miami Marlins, according to new reports by ESPN New York.
A joke was allegedly exchanged on Wednesday between Yankees' president, Randy Levine, and Marlins' owner, Jeffrey Loria, concerning A-Rod. However, ESPN has now said that those exchanges could turn into something more serious.
A-Rod has had a horrid postseason this year, even worse that some he's had in the past such as the one after he was acquired by the Yankees in 2004 from the Texas Rangers.
Rodriguez is hitting just .130 on the postseason, going 3-for-23. He has been flattened by right-handed pitchers, and gone 0-for-18 with 12 strikeouts against right-handers.
The Yankees lost to the Detroit Tigers in a wipeout 4-0 in their best of seven ALCS playoff series. The Yankees' offense has been particularly hard-up in the postseason, and one of the worst culprits for their lack of firepower has been A-Rod. He has come under fire from fans and pundits, and was even accused and criticized for asking some female fans for their numbers during Game 2 of the American League Championship Series on Sunday, according to Yahoo News.
Meanwhile A-Rod has come out to publicly state that if it is up to him he will still be a Yankee in 2013 and beyond.
Following the series defeat at the hands of the Tigers, Rodriguez said, "I've never thought about going to another team. My focus is to stay here. Let's make that very, very clear. I will be back and I have a lot to prove, and I will come back on a mission."
Speaking about the media speculation about the conversations between Loria and Levine, A-Rod simply replied: "I haven't thought about that. I love New York City. I plan to be here. And I plan to come back and be productive for this team for quite a while."
Whether he will get his wish or not is another thing. One thing is for sure; the Yankees will at least be contemplating shaking things up after posting the worst batting average in a single postseason in major league history (with a minimum of seven games).
