Amanda Bynes Says There's 'No Proof' of Crime but She's 'Becoming More Famous'
Amanda Bynes fully believes that there is no evidence against her following her arrest on May 23 for possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment, and tampering with physical evidence. Bynes, instead, is focused on her newfound publicity and fame.
"The DA and my lawyer talked today," Bynes tweeted. "They have no proof of drugs on me or around me at anytime during the arrest or after. All I'm becoming is more famous! Thanks for lying about me!"
Police arrested Bynes after searching her apartment and reportedly seeing, and smelling, the drug. They allege that Bynes threw a bong out of the window when they arrived in an attempt to hide evidence and prevent further charges. However, Bynes asserts that she was "improperly arrested" because the alleged bong was actually a vase.
She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court on July 9; it remains to be seen whether she will be sentenced for her alleged criminal behavior or simply released. Bynes has been in and out of the judicial system in recent years, most notably for several accidents while driving.
Bynes has consistently been in the news over recent months for her often bizarre behavior. She shaved her head, which reminded people of Britney Spears' erratic behavior, and her parents have discussed going to court to take control of her behavior and finances.
At one point, it was believed that Bynes' parents would hold an intervention for their 27-year-old daughter, but that never took place. Bynes has reportedly been evicted from her apartment, leaving many to wonder where exactly she is staying. The former starlet has seemingly gone downhill rather quickly since retiring from the entertainment industry yet wants to remain in the limelight.
Bynes was once a successful actress who won numerous awards for her work at such a young age. She started out on Nickelodeon but then moved into the film industry with "She's the Man," "What a Girl Wants," and most recently, "Sydney White." Bynes has since retired from acting and instead focuses on her Twitter account and everyday living.
