The build 10.4.B.0.569 is now available to download and can be installed on both devices at this time. The firmware has not been certified yet on PTCRB, but was about to release.
The changelog for the software includes a new camera pp similar to the Xperia Z1, a new Xperia home version, a new album app, a new movies app, new themes and wallpapers, new keyboard app, performance enhancement, bug fixing, a screen calibrated for a brighter display, and improved battery life.
This Android 4.3 build can be manually flashed on both handsets. This is not an official release so users should take precautions before downloading it.
The Android 4.4 KitKat update is now available for several Sony devices including the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia T and Xperia V in the form of a new ROM.
A group of developers known as the FreeXperia team released unofficial KitKat builds of CyanogenMod 11 for all of these Sony Xperia devices this week. They are also working on upgrades for the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra.
The official CyanogenMod 11 build is still not available. These unofficial versions are potentially unreliable at this time so they should be downloaded and installed with caution.
Various reports from XDA members state that the latest build for the Xperia Z is working efficiently. All those installing these ROMs should possess a good amount of technical knowledge.
