The software allows users to print documents and pictures, supports Google Hangouts and adds more Accessory support.

The Moto G official Verizon release date will be on Jan. 9.

The carrier was already offering the handset through Best Buy for $99. Verizon now confirmed that it will sell the handset online starting next week and it will arrive in the company's retail stores during the next few weeks.

The Verizon version of the Moto G will not work with any other carrier. However, the normal GSM version should function with different SIM cards.

The Moto G was launched earlier this year and is similar to the Moto X. The device packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front shooter, Android 4.4, KitKat or Android 4.3 depending on the variant, a 4.5-inch LCD display with 720 x 1280 resolution at 329 ppi and 16GB of internal storage.

The Moto G received rave reviews and was even crowned Product of the Year at the 2013 TrustedReviews Awards.
