Angelina Jolie Awarded an Oscar for Humanitarian Work

Angelina Jolie can add another Oscar Award to her list of accolades as the Academy announced the actress would receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award this year.

In 2000, the actress earned an Oscar Award for Best Supporting Actress with her role in "Girl, Interrupted," but it is her work with organizations such as the UN and the Council on Foreign Relations that is being honored this time.

During the Nov. 16 awards ceremony, Jolie will become the youngest person and the seventh women to receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Thursday.

Angela Lansbury, Steve Martin and Italian costume designer Piero Tosi will also receive annual lifetime-achievement awards at the Oscars in November.

Meanwhile, Jolie is preparing to begin production on her latest film, "Unbroken," which will include scenes filmed in Australia.

The 38-year-old actress and all six of her children were spotted leaving Los Angeles International Airport on their way to Sydney, Australia on Wednesday.

Although her fiancé Brad Pitt was absent, Jolie joined Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and twins Vivienne and Knox were all photographed along their travels.

As it turns out, Pitt is in England filming "Fury."

After the long flight, the 38-year-old actress and her large brood were spotted arriving at a local Sydney airport around 6 a.m. Friday, according to E! News.

The family is temporarily relocated in Sydney where Jolie will assume a directorial role once more.

Jolie made her directorial debut with "In the Land of Blood and Honey" last year, but "Unbroken" will mark her first take on a major studio film. The film will follow the extraordinary life of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic athlete who went on to become a prisoner of war during WWII.

Furthermore, the Coen brothers have signed on as scriptwriters of the inspiring tale. Their script will be based on author Laura Hillenbrand's book "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption."

While Ethan and Joel Coen usually direct and produce their own screenwriting, the brothers are set to rewrite the script for "Unbroken" while Jolie takes the directorial duties, according to TheWrap.

"[Zamperini] is a true hero and a man with an immense humanity, faith, and courage," Jolie said in a statement at the time she was named director, according to E! News.

"I am deeply honored to have the chance to tell his inspiring story," the 37-year-old actress added.

"Unbroken" author Hillenbrand is well known for her book "Seabiscuit," which became a critically acclaimed film. Her work has earned a place on The New York Times bestseller list for over 108 consecutive weeks.
