Angelina Jolie Mastectomy Boosting Confidence? Actress Wears Camisole

Angelina Jolie was spotted in Hawaii this week appearing happy and confident in a low-cut camisole just five months after her double mastectomy.

In May, the Oscar Award-winning actress went public with her decision to undergo the preventive surgery in an op-ed piece with the New York Times entitled "My Medical Choice."

Although she received widespread praise for sharing her experience, Jolie l admitted that the decision was not easy and sometimes felt like "a scene out of a science-fiction film," but that she is very happy, as it was something she did for her family.

Then, on Monday, the 37-year-old mother of six appeared happier and more confident than ever while scouting film locations in Hawaii.

The actress, who made her directorial debut with "In The Land of Milk and Honey," is set to direct the upcoming film "Unbroken" which will include scenes set in Hawaii.

Photographed traversing the tropical land clad in all black, Jolie appeared self-assured while wearing a plunging neckline and grinning broadly.

The actress was joined in Honolulu by two of her sons; Maddox, 11, and Pax, 9.

"Angelina was smiling," an onlooker confirmed, according to Us Weekly. "[She] talked to several people at the gate who greeted her and her sons with 'alohas' and 'enjoy your vacation.'"

It comes as no surprise that the actress' double mastectomy did not affect her confidence. In her op-ed piece, Jolie expressed utmost confidence in the reconstructive surgery involving implants that followed.

"There have been many advances in [reconstructive surgery] in the last few years, and the results can be beautiful," she penned, noting that she did not feel like "any less of a woman" having removed her natural breasts.

"I feel empowered that I made a strong choice that in no way diminishes my femininity," she explained.

Meanwhile, Jolie cited both her "faulty" BRCA1 gene as well as her family for reasons behind undergoing a double mastectomy.

Also, the actress shared her story "because I hope that other women can benefit from my experience."

"Cancer is still a word that strikes fear into people's hearts, producing a deep sense of powerlessness," she explained. "But today it is possible to find out through a blood test whether you are highly susceptible to breast and ovarian cancer, and then take action."
