AT&T to Offer T-Mobile Customers $450 to Switch Their Service
AT&T is offering current T-Mobile customers up to $450 to switch their service over to the country's second largest carrier.
The news follows rumors of T-Mobile coming up with a similar promotion to attract customers to leave AT&T. The carrier is expected to announce its new plan at CES during the next few days. AT&T wasted no time by countering with this new offer.
Every line that transfers from T-Mobile will be given $200 if they decide to go to AT&T. Those who also decide to trade in their current smartphone and switch to an AT&T Next plan or buy a phone outright can receive a promo card worth up to $250 depending on the phone they trade-in. The card could also be used towards purchasing a new handset or can be applied towards paying a phone bill.
The promotion is only available to customers willing to leave T-Mobile for AT&T. There is no word on whether or not AT&T will do this deal with other carriers.
T-Mobile's uncarrier phase 4.0 plan will soon come into play which will free customers on existing carriers from their current contracts. The plan features T-Mobile handing out credits to customers on other carriers that will cover their costs for early termination fees. It will also included several other incentives including deals on purchasing new handsets.
A Twitter post by T-Mobile's John Legere that was released earlier this week heightened the tension between both companies because he made a promise to "unshackle the family from those other guys," in it. He also took a jab at AT&T stating "Give AT&T a break... or not."
T-Mobile's big plans will be announced soon, but until that time comes, current customers on the carrier can take advantage of this enticing AT&T offer.
