Baby Lisa Irwin Missing: Family Lawyer Slams “Outrageous” Attempt to Take Brother Blake
The lawyer for the family of missing baby Lisa fired back against recent custody claims filed by the mother of one of Lisa’s brothers, calling them “outrageous.”
Joe Tacopina said the Irwin family would vigorously fight to keep their son and that he does not see how Raseleen Raim, the biological mother Blake, can make a case to get the boy. The lawyer said the woman “abandoned her son” and any claims about her being deeply concerned about his well-being are “fictional.”
“Mrs. Raim hasn't seen her son, who she claims to care so much about, for six years, despite a court order allowing visits,” said the lawyer, WPTV reported. “Further expressing her concern for her son, she hasn't paid court ordered child support to help Blake."
Attorney Dorothy Savory, representing Raim, wrote a letter for the custody claim, stating that her client “has always kept her son, Blake Irwin, in her thoughts and prayers.”
The Emergency custody motion threatened to take the 8-year-old boy away from Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley, but a ruling has not yet been made.
Tacopina said that Raim’s lawyer wrote a “touching” statement, but failed to include certain truths, such as the fact that the mother had not paid child support for her son and had not seen him for more than six years.
The Irwin family hopes the custody battle will not distract from efforts to find their daughter, who has been missing for well over a month now.
Some reports emerged claiming that police regard them as prime suspects in the case, due to a number of mysterious circumstances that do not connect, such as phone calls placed the night of Lisa’s disappearance from phones they reported missing.
