Hulu Plus will allow owners to view several popular television shows and movies on their tablet. Music subscription services, such as Rhapsody and MOG, will also come to the Nook Color.

The Pandora music radio application will come pre-loaded with the Nook Color, as well. The planned 1.4 software update is responsible for adding these new features.

More magazines, such as The New Yorker and Real Simple, will add to the large list of books already on the Nook Color.

Fun applications like the video game “Scrabble” are also being optimized for use on the device.

The Nook Color tablet features a 7-inch VividView Color touch screen that shows more than 16 million colors.

The device runs on an 800 MHz Cortex-A8 processor, customized Android-based web browser and 8GB of internal storage. Android 2.2 is the main operating system for the tablet.

Barnes and Noble's content services make the bulk of the books and magazines that can be viewed on the Nook Color.

"If you are looking for a full-color reading experience that makes the most of graphic media like magazines and children's books, the Nook Color delivers. And that makes it our Editors' Choice for color eBook readers,” said PC Mag regarding the soon-to-be-released tablet.

Barnes and Noble's separate Nook Tablet is also set for release. Pre-orders for the device start on Nov. 16. It will cost customers $249.
