Bethany Hamilton Married: Spends Honeymoon in Hawaii 'God is More Than Good'
Newlyweds Bethany Hamilton and Adam Dirks were seen having a fun day at the beach in Hawaii just days after exchanging vows.
Hamilton, a professional surfer and shark attack victim, lost her arm in 2003 but refused to stop pursuing her passion of surfing.
The 23-year-old married Dirks, a 25-year-old youth ministry worker last Sunday on an estate near where Hamilton grew up, reports People.
"I just feel really blessed to be able to spend my life with him," she said to E! News. "Today was the most beautiful, wonderful best day of my life! God is more than good. Excited to live life with my husband Adam Dirks!"
Their entire bridal party attended the beachfront wedding barefoot in an intimate ceremony.
"I look forward to being the best wife that I can be for Adam and to starting our new adventure together," Hamilton said to PEOPLE. "I love surfing, but getting married doesn't even compare. This was definitely the best night of my life."
The couple met in the spring of 2012 on a blind date of sorts at the beach, EOnline reported, and were engaged in April of this year.
Bethany now spends her days as a motivational speaker and author. In 2004 she wrote Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board. The book chronicled her life post shark attack and losing her arm, and was eventually turned into a movie in 2011.
She has four first place finishes in national surfing races.
