Beyoncé Named the Most Powerful Celebrity
Beyoncé may be the world's most powerful celebrity.
Beyoncé Knowles has landed herself atop Forbes magazine's list of the world's 100 most powerful celebrities. While her endorsements and world tour have helped earn her an estimated $115 million since last year, Forbes believes her self-titled surprise album put her ahead of the pack.
"Beyoncé was so far ahead of anybody from the first time we looked at numbers," Forbes' Los Angeles Bureau Chief Dorothy Pomerantz told the New York Daily News. "Not only did she earn a ton of money, but she's taken her fame to the next level and become incredibly influential with her understanding of her fans and great use of Facebook and Instagram."
The 15th annual Celebrity 100 list measures what celebrities earned over the course of the last 12 months, social media presence, and the amount of times they appeared on print, TV and radio.
While Beyoncé was given the number one spot on the list, Lebron James, Dr. Dre, Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres rounded out the top five. Pomerantz insisted the singer's brilliance placed her on top of the magazine's coveted list, with a surprise album that changed music culture last December.
"It showed such a keen understanding of where we are in the moment, how we want to consume, what we want to see. It was really brilliant," Pomerantz told the Daily News.
Beyoncé is currently touring with her husband Jay Z, but fans can tune in to HBO each Sunday to watch her perform some songs from her latest album. In the mini series titled, BeyonceX10, the singer will be featured on HBO networks for 10 episodes that will document her Mrs. Carter world tour that began last year and ended earlier this year.
News outlets like Time are reporting that fans can expect to see Beyonce perform songs like "Blow/Cherry," "Drunk in Love," "Ghost/Haunted," "Flawless/Yoncé," "Get Me Bodied/Baby Boy/Diva," "Girls," "Heaven," "Partition," "Why Don't You Love Me?" and "XO" in the series that started last Sunday.
