Biden, Abby Johnson react to Supreme Court arguments over Mississippi's abortion law
Pro-life experts reject Justice Elena Kagan’s declaration that ‘not much has changed since Roe and Casey’
Justice Elena Kagan, another liberal justice appointed to the bench by former President Barack Obama in 2010, also made a comment that did not sit well with pro-life activists. Kagan insisted that “not much has changed since Roe and Casey.”
Pro-lifers vehemently disagreed with that statement, arguing that developments in science and technology in recent decades have proven otherwise. Christie insisted that “incredible advances in science and fetal medicine have rendered viability a totally incoherent legal standard.”
“As a practicing diagnostic radiologist, I can attest that advances in ultrasound technology continue to astonish the medical community as to the humanity of the unborn child, a truth and medical reality that we can now see clearly in the earliest weeks of life,” she proclaimed. “This case is before the Supreme Court today in large part because Americans have seen the evolving science and increasingly want a voice in a question of great moral consequence.”

In a separate statement, Dr. Tara Sander Lee, senior fellow and director of life sciences at Charlotte Lozier Institute, stated: “Back in 1973, ultrasound technology displayed a baby using grainy, black and white dots. It was difficult to identify major body parts, much less fetal behavior. Now, 4D ultrasound enables us to see the baby cry after receiving an injection, smile, yawn, hiccup, suck their thumb, and even determine if the baby will be right-handed or left-handed.”
“Justice Kagan would be correct in saying that the baby hasn’t changed in 50 years, but our scientific understanding of the humanity of the unborn baby has advanced significantly.”
Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director who has become an outspoken advocate for the pro-life movement, slammed the “idiotic comments coming from a couple of the liberal justices on the bench” in an appearance on Fox News’ opinion show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Wednesday.
Johnson lamented that “these are the same people that want us to follow the science, but yet they’re telling us there haven’t been any scientific developments made in maternal and fetal medicine in the past 50 years.”
