5 interesting excerpts from the Biden-Hur transcripts
2. Biden talks about injuries sustained to a man’s penis
More than two pages of the transcript feature Biden talking about his career as a lawyer, which was short as he was first elected to the United States Senate at age 29, in 1972. He elaborated on how one of the clients his law firm represented “lost part of his penis and one of his testicles” in a construction accident as he was “scraping the hydrogen bubbles off of the inside” of a chimney.
Biden then proceeded to talk about how that case helped him determine that he was “in the wrong business” and led him to pursue a career as a public defender in addition to joining the “civil rights movement” in an attempt to “reform the Democratic Party.” Biden’s remarks, which spanned about seven pages, came in response to a question from Hur asking, “At the end of your vice presidency, what kinds of papers or documents or files were at the Naval Observatory as you were preparing to leave and move out?”
The president told the Special Counsel’s team that “the whole point of telling you this is I had a lot of material that I kept notes on” from that time in his life. According to Biden, “There was a lot of material that I had amassed that I wanted to save.”
